How to Play

GuessClash is a race to find the hidden word before your rival does. The rules take a minute to learn; the fun is in the speed and in grabbing the buzzer.

🎨 First, the colours

When you type a word its letters light up. Below, the hidden word is CHIME; the player tries MOUSE first, then finds the answer.

EGreen — right letter, right place.
MYellow — the letter is in the word, but somewhere else.
OGrey — the letter is not in the word at all.

🎮 Game modes

The same word logic, eight different ways to play. Tap a card to start right away.

Duel

The heart of the game: two players, one word, and a race for the buzzer.

  1. 1Tap “Find Opponent” — you are matched with a player near your level.
  2. 2At the start of a round the buzzer is open; whoever types first takes the turn.
  3. 3Miss it and the turn passes; whoever finds the word first wins the round.
  4. 4You score by the time left, and grabbing the buzzer first earns a speed bonus.

Duel AI

A warm-up against the AI. No pressure, try as often as you like.

Arena

How is scoring calculated?

Winning the round is not the whole story — how fast you get there counts too. Solve the word early and you earn extra points for the time left on the clock, and grabbing the buzzer first earns a speed bonus. At the end of the match your score feeds your ELO and your league standing.

What do the jokers do?

When you are stuck, three jokers can bail you out: one reveals a letter in green at its correct position, one shows a letter that appears in the word in yellow, and one buys you a few extra seconds. Each match allows a limited number of them, and the exact counts depend on the game settings.

Do I need an account?

Yes, but it takes one field. Type a name and you are in — no email, no password, no confirmation link. Your points, badges, titles and league position start counting from that moment. Whenever you are ready, add an email and password to secure the account so you can sign in from another device.

How does voice input work?

Instead of typing, press and hold the microphone button and say the word; what you say is written into the boxes and you confirm before sending. Your browser needs to support speech recognition (Chrome and Safari do).

What if no opponent is found?

After a short wait, a bot at your level steps in, so your match never stalls. Empty seats in the Arena are filled the same way.

What if my connection drops?

You can rejoin after a short disconnect. If you keep abandoning matches, a brief matchmaking cooldown kicks in — nobody likes being left mid-duel.
